The Miyawaki Nature Lab is a vibrant, evolving space dedicated to ecological restoration and environmental education. Located in Puliyarakonam, Thiruvananthapuram, this once-barren stretch of land has been transformed into a thriving native forest using the Miyawaki method-a proven approach to rapid and dense afforestation.
This ambitious initiative has been made possible through the collaborative efforts of many, including the generous support of M/s Invis Pvt Ltd and M/s Culture Shoppy Pvt Ltd. As part of their social responsibility, both organisations actively participated in the planning, design, implementation, and digital documentation of the Nature Lab, lending strength to the vision of a greener future.
Founded by M.R. Hari and developed by the Agriculture and Ecosystem Management Group (AGES)-a non-profit organisation with over three decades of experience in land restoration-the Nature Lab now serves as a hub for experiential learning. It focuses on areas such as climate resilience, agroforestry, the medicinal value of native plants, and sustainable living. Public awareness programs, hands-on workshops, and online training sessions are regularly held to promote environmental literacy and action.
From soil regeneration and biodiversity enhancement to community engagement and habitat creation, the Miyawaki Nature Lab showcases the power of science, local knowledge, and public-private partnerships in restoring ecosystems. AGES also offers services in afforestation, eco-development planning, GIS mapping, and environmental impact assessments, and is provisionally accredited as an observer to the UNCCD Conference of the Parties.
At its heart, the Lab is committed to empowering individuals and communities to live in harmony with nature. Join our onsite or online training programs and be part of the movement to grow green futures from the ground up.
